and big feelings
I’ve never seen a movie that gave me such big feelings, full stop.
This past weekend I saw a film that made me want to SCREAM from a rooftop — and in 2025, that translates to “take it to Substack,” I guess?
The documentary is called Between the Mountain and the Sky. It’s about Maggie Doyne, who moved to Nepal to work in a refugee camp and ended up building an extraordinary life of helping others. She went on to found BlinkNow, which now includes a children’s home, a school, and a women’s center. It’s one of those “should I drop everything and be like her?” stories.
The film itself is s-t-u-n-n-i-n-g. I was full choke-sobbing through awe, joy, grief, admiration — the whole emotional buffet.
And yes, it hit a familiar nerve from my time working in Haiti (there were definite “sliding doors” moments of my life in there), but even without that connection, it’s just impeccable storytelling.
Major props to the filmmaker Jeremy Power Regimbal— ten years dedicated to getting this story right.
This better win an Oscar. Truly. Who do we call?

The Vibration Plate I Was Influenced Into Buying
I stand on it twice a day for ten minutes because the internet told me it can supposedly help with lymphatic drainage, circulation, and muscle activation. My friend swears she feels “snatched” after. I… do not. Yet. If you have success stories, please report back.
But stepping off it does give you that funny little “just got off a roller coaster” high, which honestly is enough for now.
The one I got on amazon is no longer avail (sold out ?!?!) but this is it.

Cobiotics huh?
We celebrated the new hotness, a cobiotic, on the dance floor (with forever fave Forward Space) in Venice, CA this week. What is that? great Q:
A cobiotic = prebiotics + probiotics + postbiotics all hanging out together to support your whole gut ecosystem and allegedly boost energy, digestion, and clarity.
The company was started by my friend Ara Katz — one of the smartest humans I know. I swear we’ve known each other across multiple lifetimes. She looks better than ever and feels great, so… I’ll have what she’s having.
I’m taking the energy one. Feeling productive enough that I wrote this, so maybe it’s working?

Golf is back
I’m bringing golf back into my life. Maybe saying it here will make me actually stick to it.
I joined a little Malbon ladies crew. Malbon has completely reinvented the look and feel of this dad sport — went to the the new store opening on Melrose and the design is a true chef’s kiss.
Popped collars have come a long way since my days working in my mom’s golf shop. TBH, half the reason I love golf is serving looks from a golf cart… but anyway. Holler at me if you want a sunset driving-range moment with friends. I’m serious about getting serious here.

….and if you’re new here cause I sure am
Hi, I’m Babs. Who knows how this space will take shape (truly just seeing it like it’s my daily phone call to my friend Sophia Rossi). Reviewing my camera roll, I’d imagine you can expect design inspo, construction, bts on projects, under-the-influence binge buys that i’m pleased with, flea-market finds, idk maybe travel finds, and most importantly: the art of the yard sale. My lifelong obsession. The real sport I accidentally trained for as a child.
